King's Pawn

King's Pawn

King’s Pawn moves forward full of dignity, his eyes are like fire, and his loyalty to the King inspires his comrades. He raises his sword and rallies the frontline, sure he’s not the strongest or the smartest, but the spirit of unity, an immortal flame burns through his veins, immersing his presence. He’s not alone, at his right and at his left the soldiers follow his lead.

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body… 1 Corinthians 12:12

He remembers his mother gracefully in the garden, a peaceful land, his now-aged father still plowing the field. Memories of home, swords clashing with friends, until the sticks broke, the imagination of Pawn running wild. Now the battle is real, and Pawn has much to protect, our freedom, and the blessed land his soon-to-be daughter will walk upon.

The King is virtuous, his people prosper at his command, “We follow him without question.” Pawn thought, as he examined the frontline, the soldiers looked at him, their thoughts echoing between one another.

“The King is worthy to die for, and those we protect are worthy of our sacrifice!” The authority in his voice resonates his strong spirit and ignites their spirits all the more, the authority given to him by the King. The Soldiers beat the hilt of the swords upon their shields in aggressive approval. One by one they stepped forward with fire burning in their eyes, “The King, he is worthy. King of Kings and Lord of the Lords.”

The enemy approached, their numbers were vast, the calm before the storm, only the sound of our beating hearts broke the silence, until he spoke

“Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.” 2 Chronicles 20:15

The enemy charged, Pawn raised up his sword “To the Glory of the King!” In retaliation the front line pressed forward, smashing into the darkness, the clashing of shields, swords, and hammers, axes, clubs, the roar of battle had begun.

Dark clouds approached the battlefield, at his left a Dark Horsemen charged toward Pawn only to be challenged by another horseman, hoves kicked in the air, horses troted gloriously and just as soon as the confrontation had begun it was over, the Dark Horsemen fell from his mount, slayed by the King’s Knight, who selected his next target.

With no time to account that his life was narrowly saved, With a flash of light Pawn slashed his foe at his right standing before him, another bashing to the ground with his mighty shield.

As one, that was their strength, unified by the glory of the King, his words resounding over the despair of the war-torn battlefield. Pawn wasn’t the best fighter, he trusted that the King had appointed him with precision beyond his understanding.

The enemy was greater in number, but our King gives us the victory. One by one the enemy fell, they cared not for one another, and their commander cast them to death with no regard or remorse, throwing them away like expendable trash.

King taught us to fight as one, to care for one another, and to live and die for each other. No one was expendable, but all were willing to give the fullest measure of devotion, even their final breath. He breathed life into us, we give ours in return.  He showed us a Kingdom not of this world, where we can all live peacefully together, we would be one family. No stealing, or murder, a Kingdom where our children were safe to play in the streets, and the homeless poor were always cared for, a Kingdom worth fighting for.

He’s pinned down, their Leader, nowhere to run. He was a mighty foe, and Pawn was only a footsoldier, grabbing the claymore of the King’s Guard, Rooks were veterans of many battles, respected, and entrusted with the protection of the King. "Your sacrifice is not in vein, you will be honored."

Pawn pressed toward the great enemy, realizing the many battles he fought had taught him much, with a valiant sword in both hands he confronted the wicked Leader's Guard.

Two great warriors exchanged blows, equal in skill they would gain and lose footing,  both exhausted, they began to weaken, but Pawn was relentless, he would never back down, no mountain too tall, or valley too deep, no giant too big, nothing will stop him, seeing his opening Pawn struck his opponent mid-body.

The Wicked Leader wished to pass Pawn and make his retreat, but Pawn had been forged, he was no longer the Footsoldier he began as he had undoubtedly become the unspoken King’s Guard. Pawn had grown as a man under the King’s guidance, as a soldier, and his loyalty had borne its fruit through many battles.

“King’s Guard, a Rook that's what I am now. I know who I am, who I was always meant to become.” As the evil approached, Pawn shouted once again, “To the Glory of the King!” and smote the darkness.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

Matthew 25:

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. 14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. 15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. 16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. 17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. 18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. 20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. 22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. 23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. 24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. 26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: 27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. 29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. 30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
